Ha, Ha, on my way to the cooking class this afternoon, I bought two English vocabulary books, which are in actuality the first two in my life!!

The dislike for English vocabulary books can be counted as one of my peculiar prejudices.  Memorizing words from a vocabulary book just looks "NOT COOL" to me.  As a result, even when I prepared for tests, be it the entrance examinations or the CBT, I refused to buy such kind of books.

Instead, I prefer to learning new words by reading.  But I don't like to consult the dictionary, either; therefore, I am used to "guessing" the meaning of the word from the context.  Thanks to it, sometimes I would get a very dim or even misleading understanding of words that I'm not familiar with.

Well, a famous(?) saying goes like this, "You cannot always avoid things that are indeed unavoidable."  Today, the teacher said that my vocabulary should be further expanded.  Ok, I agree.  I took according action immediately.  Nevertheless, breaking this long-time habit still unsettled me a little bit......
